RIT's Wallace Library seeks a service-oriented librarian to join a team
of dedicated individuals in providing access to print and digital
collections by applying new approaches to description, subject analysis
and classification in the online environment of a complex, dynamic
academic library. This position reports to the Head of Cataloging.
 
Qualifications: 
Required: ALA-accredited MLS degree, with three to four years of
original cataloging experience. Knowledge of trends in access to digital
information and emerging metadata standards. Prior experience with an
integrated library system and a bibliographic utility. Experience in
using microcomputer applications in a cataloging environment and in
using the World Wide Web. Must be a self-directed, innovative and
flexible team player, able to meet goals, with excellent interpersonal,
analytical, written, verbal and organizational skills. 
 
Desired: At least three year's post-MLS cataloging experience. Expert
knowledge of AACR2-R, LCRIs, LCSH, LC Classification, US MARC (MARC21)
formats and authority control practices and procedures within an
academic, large public or special library setting. Extensive experience
with an integrated library system (Innovative Interfaces preferred) and
a bibliographic utility (OCLC WorldCat/Connexion preferred). Experience
with OCLC's Cataloging MicroEnhancer software and OCLC's PromptCat
service. Experience in using HTML, Dublin Core, EAD and/or XML.
