I have been reading much of this discussion with interest.

Our library has recently begun redesigning our opac (first time since
1996!), and though I havent been involved, I am looking at the comments of
this group for some inspiration.

My question is this: I keep hearing 'google' as the example. But I think,
and others I know have pointed out, that amazon.com is more appropriate for
a library model.

When I search Amazon for something, I get a list (now on the left side),
saying what my results are in each category.

I can easily see a similar search on a library page with the categories for:
Books
Articles

etc...

Does this not work?
