*Examples are drawn from medical libraries, but principles of 
instructional design for Web-based teaching are applicable generally.
**You do not have to be a member of MLA to take the course nor to 
receie CE credits for it.

Overview:

This hands-on workshop will provide experience in designing and 
constructing several forms of distance education/Web-based Teaching.

Instructional design and the complementary Web design for Web-based 
for development of good Web-based Teaching are emphasized.

The intellectual focus will be on using good instructional design and 
Web page design principles. Students will be introduced to Web-based 
Teaching techniques and materials using standard Web pages and free 
or low-cost communications tools.

We will review the use of teaching materials created with multi-media 
plug-ins and classroom communications tools.

We will overview of the state-of-the-art of web-based instructional 
technology and its applications, students will be guided through the 
process of designing their own web-based Teaching unit.
Audience

Register at anytime to work through Web and e-mail with the Web Teacher
at your own pace 2005-2006.  Course tuition is $325


This course includes access to "How to Find Medical Information on 
the Internet" http://www.kovacs.com/mla/mlace.html 8 CE - you must 
complete both courses in full in order to earn 16 MLA CE.  You do not 
have to complete both courses.  Access is given for the purpose of 
examples and illustration of principles of instructional design for 
Web-based Teaching.
