You can always use a system like blogger without using blogspot; just 
FTP the file over to your own server through blogger (pretty easy to 
do!) and thus keep your library's url intact. That way you can use the 
blogger interface, and no one but you even needs to know what FTP 
means.

I really don't think it's a bad idea at all. If you don't have the 
support to install a CMS on your server, blogger is an excellent 
option.
