[Web4lib] Google study

Texas Tech Univ has used the GSA for a couple of years, and from my
perspective as a web site manager, it's worked reasonably well.

The main technical issue for me as an user is that the campus IT people have
disabled indexing of business document formats other than PDF. The reason
given was that the appliance's nightly crawl was significantly slowed down
when it was set to crawl and index all of the document formats, and it
started eating into bandwidth in early part of the next business day. I'm
not sure whether campus IT has done any formal studies of this, but I'm sure
they'd be willing to discuss it with you. My impression is that this problem
is not a limitation of the appliance, but rather the impact of campus-wide
bandwidth limits on the speed of its crawling.
