I don't know what your setup is, but IE has a notorious problem with
extended amounts of temporary files. Usually, once you reach a certain
amount of temp files, you won't be able to view source, and it will
occasionally send iexplore.exe to 100% cpu usage (depending on what you
do).
My suggestions (in order):
1. Tools / Internet Options / Delete Files (check offline items also)
Might as well clear history and delete cookies also.
2. Run Ad-Aware from http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ to remove any spyware.
3. Run HouseCall online trojan scanner at
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
4. Check to make sure the DNS IPs you are using are correct. Most
often, freezes like this are due to timeouts happening from the DNS
Gateway.
5. Odd as it may seem, try going to Control Panel / Display / Settings
/ Advanced / Troubleshoot and turn the Hardware acceleration all the way
down. Strange problems can occur with IE when there's a graphic card
conflict.
6. It also sounds like it could be a DSO exploit - make sure you keep
up to date on any security vulnerabilities from Microsoft.
Hope that helps! If not, post more details about your systems
experiencing the problem and all.

Subject: [WEB4LIB] search delay
Hi,
Is there anybody experience delay at IE searching? Our library
got some
complains on Internet Explore delay or even hung after patron
entered a
wrong url. For example, user enter ccc.ddd at address line, IE
would stuck
at original page and doesn't do anything. He can't back or stop.
Sometimes
librarian will come to reboot the PC.
Any ideas?
Yi
