[WEB4LIB] Google Video??

I've played with it a bit in the last couple days. Right now I don't
find it particularly valuable or useful, but it certainly could in the
future, particularly if they get the actual video up and available,
rather than just a few random thumbnails.

As a real example, I had a patron Wednesday that was looking for
information about some recent Oprah show where they discussed anal sex
(and I'll admit that's the first time anyone has asked about that
topic at reference, at least in my personal experience). I tried this
search engine and searched for "anal sex oprah" and didn't find
anything. But just searching "anal sex" gave some things, but not
what the patron was after.

However, it did produce this interesting result.
This is from the Today Show on January 18. It illustrated the problem
of them using the Closed Caption transcript. Since the person is
keying it in real time, rather than having a prepared script, it
naturally has some typos and such in it. In fact, I think such things
are done with speech recognition technology now on live shows, such as
Today and sports events. (I occasionally mute ESPN during games and
see similar results.) Somehow the description doesn't quite fit "and
Al Roker".....

we're bk on a tuesy morni, 18th day of
nuary, 2005. Inside s4studio 1-a, I'm Matt laue along with Katie
couric anal roker. And coming up in this half hour, we'll tell you
about a new approach to dorce. So that I a marriage has t en it can
endn a way that is coiderate to both parties. It is called collaborative
Law, and we'll tell you more about it just ahead.
