new year software upgrades

The minions at Sun were apparently busy during the holiday season.  Java
2 Runtime Environment SE v1.4.2_06 is now available
<http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp>.  In addition, the
OpenOffice.org software suite has reached version 1.1.4
<http://download.openoffice.org/1.1.4/>.

And in the (perhaps) better late than never category, Microsoft has
released a beta version of their new antispyware product

GT1=6065>, cleverly named Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta).  Since
I've been more than happy with Spybot Search & Destroy
<http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download>, I doubt I will ever get
around to testing the Microsoft product.
