POSITION OPENING: Metadata Architect / Information Retrieval

As a member of the MIT Lincoln Laboratory Library & Information
Management group, you will work with a team of information professionals
providing services to the Laboratory's 2500+ employees, focusing on its
800+ scientists and engineers. Primary responsibilities will include:

 > Develop, implement and maintain controlled vocabularies and
taxonomies to support effective storage and retrieval of information,
and define specifications and plans for taxonomy implementation on the
Laboratory's Intranet and content management system

 > Provide subject-focused technical guides on the Library Intranet and
in-depth and on-demand research to individual employees

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: ALA-accredited Masters in Library Science with undergraduate
degree in the physical sciences or engineering preferred

Experience: 1-2 years experience in a science or engineering library or
knowledge management group

Knowledge of metadata, database, and content characterization systems
and applications in the development of taxonomies required

Due to the unique nature of Laboratory work, U.S. Citizenship is
required.
