NISO Announces Fall Workshops
OpenURL and Metasearch: New Standards, Current Innovation, and Future
Directions
September 19-21, 2005, Washington DC (early bird rates close August 26th)

Two NISO standards, OpenURL and Metasearch, are at the forefront of
innovative library services. These workshops will give you an
introduction to these standards if you are not already familiar with
them, and will give current users great ideas for extending the reach of
your library. Want to connect your library's holdings to Google Scholar?
Or how about how about having seamless interaction with the local
e-learning software? Do you want to learn how to customize linking and
metasearching for your library? Explore all of this and more at the NISO
Workshops on OpenURL and Metasearch.

Included is a training day designed for technical staff from all types
of content providers (publishers, vendors and librarians). The training
day will cover the basics of both the OpenURL and Metasearch standards,
available software and tools for implementations, and the requirements
for standards conformance.

You'll have a chance to learn from your colleagues and expert speakers
in question and answer periods and informal networking during breaks,
meals, and during a workshop reception.

Sponsoring vendors will highlight the features of their products in
Vendor Showcases and in Exhibits. The venue is the spacious
state-of-the-art conference facility at the AED headquarters near DuPont
Circle in Washington, D.C.

NISO workshops have been sell-outs so register now to take advantage of
early-bird rates.

Visit the NISO web site for information about the program and speakers,
exhibitor and sponsorship opportunities, and to register.
