New Position: Science Librarian. James Madison University seeks an 
enthusiastic and innovative reference librarian to work closely with 
instructional faculty and library staff to develop innovative approaches 
to library instruction, collection building, and outreach. The Science 
Librarian will serve as liaison to selected physical and/or life science 
departments (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geology.)

General Responsibilities: Provide reference and instructional services; 
work closely with instructional faculty and library staff to develop 
innovative approaches to library instruction, collection building, 
reference service, and outreach; use appropriate technology in the 
provision of reference, instruction, and other library services; 
contribute in areas of service and scholarship.

Qualifications: ALA/MLS; reference and instructional experience; strong 
knowledge of traditional and electronic reference sources; knowledge of 
collection development; excellent communication, interpersonal, 
organizational, and time-management skills; excellent problem-solving 
and analytical skills; knowledge of current and emerging technologies 
and the ability to apply these technologies to a diverse range of 
library applications; strong public service orientation; ability to work 
creatively and collaboratively in a rapidly changing environment; 
background in sciences strongly preferred.

12-month faculty appointment. Competitive compensation package. Minimum 
salary: $42,000. Review of applications will begin September 30, 2005
