 Position: Java/XML Developer                   
           The Research Libraries/Digital

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science; or an equivalent
combination of education and successfully demonstrated relevant experience
in software development for the web. Successfully demonstrated experience
developing database driven websites using Java and XML. Successfully
demonstrated understanding of industry and library related standards,
including MARC, Dublin Core. Successfully demonstrated ability to
coordinate diverse data input streams into a systematic orderly
arrangement. Successfully demonstrated knowledge of the emerging metadata
standards, e.g. RDF, Dublin Core, which are being used in the digital
library environment. Successfully demonstrated understanding of PHP/Ruby on
Rails or ColdFusion. Successfully demonstrated knowledge of relational
databases in a web environment, preferably with Oracle 9i.

Description: Under the general direction of the Assistant Director for
Technology, works closely with the Digital Library Program (DLP) Metadata
Coordinator, Data Administrator and other members of the DLP Management
Team to develop interfaces to the Library's Digital Asset Management
System, including update screens, reports and upload utilities. Performs
related duties as required.
