Consumer Health Coordinator
National Network of Libraries of Medicine
UCLA Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library
The UCLA Louise M. Darling Biomedical Library, Regional Medical Library for the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Pacific Southwest Region (NN/LM PSR) is looking for a knowledgeable, energetic, and innovative librarian to coordinate its consumer health information outreach program for the region. The coordinator is responsible for development, performance, and ongoing evaluation of the consumer health information (CHI) outreach program for the Pacific Southwest region. This includes developing goals and objectives for consumer health information outreach activities based on the National Library of Medicine contract, developing a budget to support these activities, and providing progress reports in meeting program goals and objectives. Additional responsibilities includes analyzing existing CHI resources and services in the region and designing projects to improve their availability; developing instructional and informational materials; training librarians and other health
information providers to help them offer CHI resources and services; promoting NLM and National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM) consumer health programs; providing feedback to NLM; developing partnerships with state, public, and health sciences libraries; managing subcontracts with regional libraries; contributing to the regional newsletter, web site and appropriate media to further the goals of the program. The coordinator also assists with other regional outreach and network activities as needed. Travel is required.
Qualifications: MLS from an accredited library school; experience in planning and delivering information services; ability to work in a team environment and to manage and/or collaborate on projects in a variety of settings; excellent written and oral communications skills; organizational and information technology skills, flexibility and willingness to travel. Familiarity with NLM resources; an understanding of consumer health information environments and resources; ability to work with multilingual, multicultural audiences, and experience with community based outreach preferred. Salary range: $37,920 - 70,500.
