DIGITAL LIBRARY TEAM LEADER

The Lehigh University Library and Technology Services (LTS), a merged
library and computing organization, seeks a creative and motivated
individual to develop digital library collections, Web-based services,
and next-generation library systems. This position is a key source of
library technical expertise in a collaborative, diverse, and
team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities: Administers the library online catalog (SIRSI) and
related library systems; leads development and implementation of library
electronic services; researches new software and emerging technologies;
designs technical environments for Lehigh digital library projects;
builds electronic publishing infrastructure to disseminate Lehigh
scholarship; participates in project planning and grant-writing
activities related to library digitization and electronic scholarship
efforts; incorporates library digital content into instructional
technology and University portal projects. Under the direction of the
Director of Library Collections and Systems, the Digital Library Team
Leader supervises one full-time technical position and student
assistants.

Qualifications: Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education
and experience.  Three to five years experience in creating and
implementing digital collections, including digital image and text
creation. Programming ability in languages such as C++ or Java and/or
scripting languages such as Perl or PHP.  Knowledge of Dublin Core or
other metadata standards.  Experience with markup languages such as XML.
Familiarity with UNIX system administration; library automation software
applications; and database design and development. Good communication
and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated leadership skills and prior

Salary: High forties to mid-fifties, commensurate with experience.
Timeline: Review of applications begins on December 1 and will continue
until position is filled.  Position available immediately; start date
negotiable.
