Position:   Visiting Reference/Virtual Services Librarian, Faculty
One-year Appointment
Mortvedt Library, Pacific Lutheran University

Pacific Lutheran University (http://www.plu.edu) has a one-year Visiting
Reference/Virtual Services Librarian position available.

Responsibilities:
Pacific Lutheran University is seeking applicants for the position of
Visiting Reference/Virtual Services Librarian.  This one-year position
is responsible for providing general reference service; participating in
the library’s information literacy program; providing leadership for an
emerging virtual reference service with prospects of integration with
additional real-time technology support; supporting technology
associated with a high-use information center; serving as a liaison to
Information Resources technologists; administering collection
development in specified subject areas; and training and supervising
student workers.

Requirements:
· ALA accredited MLS or equivalent degree, earned or in progress
· Strong service orientation with good interpersonal and communications
skills
· Ability to work independently and in a team-based collegial
environment
· Facility with PCs, application software, computer security, and the
Internet
· Requires some evening and weekend hours

Desirable:
· Academic reference experience
· Teaching and/or training experience
· Experience with virtual reference services
· Expertise in technical computer skills in a Windows-based environment
· Knowledge of and/or experience with collection development in Music or
Business
· Experience supervising students

Salary:

Full-time, 12-month, faculty position with a minimum salary of $30,000
