Library Fund Development
ARL/OLMS Online Lyceum Course
January 6-17, 2003
The Association of Research Libraries is pleased to offer the Online
Lyceum course "Library Fund Development." This Online Lyceum course
provides a basic understanding of the library fundraising and fund
development environment and the individual's role in it. A series of
self-directed activities encourages participants to examine fundraising
in the context of their own library organization.
This course covers:
* Key factors in library fundraising and fund development
* Understanding donors
* Development process and planning
* Modes of giving
This course will include interaction with course facilitators via the
submission of assignments, which will be reviewed and returned with
feedback. Several of the activities and assignments involve interviewing
your library director and/or a development professional. This can be
flexible; if there is someone else in the organization who has these
responsibilities or expertise, you should feel free to talk with that
person.
Target Audience
Library leaders and others interested in learning more about what it
takes to engage in successful fund-development activities should take
this course.
