The OCLC Institute and the University of Alberta Libraries, Edmonton, Canada
are pleased to announce a new seminar:  Transforming the Library: Measures
for the Future.

Join us on June 10-11, 2002 to explore how technological innovation,
fundamental changes in the nature of knowledge resources themselves and the
rising demands of information users require libraries to re-examine and
redefine their missions, collections, services, standards, and practices.
This two-day seminar provides an overview of critical trends and their
impact on library operations.  The focus is upon changing library models,
global strategic thinking, and evaluating library performance.

This new seminar is appropriate for library directors, managers and
supervisors, information professionals, academic deans and faculty, and
students.

Topics include:

Collection-based and services-based models of library organization and their
impact
Survey of key trends in knowledge management
Sustainable competitive advantage
Defining strategic intent
Identifying opportunities
Leveraging core competencies
Need for performance measurement
Linking performance measurement with strategy
