javascript function in IE on Mac

I can't stand not asking anymore.
Does anyone know why the javascript on this page (
http://www.lib.lfc.edu/internetsearch/ ) allows the user to use the enter
key to perform the function in Netscape on PC and Mac, as well as in IE on a
PC, but in IE on a Mac it will erase the search if the user does not use the
search button to execute the command?
