Mail Lists for Websites

Does anyone currently use mailing list software with their websites?  I'm 
looking for the type that allows the patron to enter their name on the 
website to sign up for updates.  We use an ISP for our site so we are 
limited to what we can use on their server.  We can only use the canned CGI 
scripts that they have available. I would appreciate any suggestions of 
products that could handle this.
