Information Services Librarian (Distance Education/Evening Hours):  Entry level
tenure-track library faculty position with twelve month appointment,
responsible for providing  general reference service and computer assistance;
providing user education for bibliographic and reference resources (print and
electronic) and common computer applications; preparing reference and computer
guides; and participating in reference collection development and related
public service activities.   The position will provide leadership for provision
of reference services to distance education students and faculty.   Hours for
the position will be 3:00 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday.  An
ALA-accredited master's degree or equivalent accredited library degree, 
practical knowledge and experience with current computer and networking
technologies, knowledge of search strategies for online databases and the
Internet, and a strong public service commitment are required.  Experience
working in an academic library environment; experience creating and maintaining
effective web pages; and ability to work with a diverse student body are
preferred.

Reporting to the Head of Information Services. Salary ($38,000 minimum) and
rank will be based on qualifications and experience.  The position will be
available on January 2, 2002.

The Library employs 18 faculty and 44 support staff. A 24 hour-a-day schedule
provides access to the Library's collection of over 500,000 volumes, over
600,000 government documents and almost 3,500 current serial subscriptions. The
Library uses Endeavor/Voyager and has over 300 public networked computers which
provide access to GALILEO (Georgia's statewide library database collection),
applications software, and locally maintained databases. For more information
