SENIOR LIBRARY PLANNING ANALYST
PROVOST AND SENIOR Vice President -- Academic Affairs: Academic
Initiatives: Systemwide Library Planning.
Salary: $43,600 - 61,000 (midpoint of salary range).

Responsibilities: Provide professional support in the areas of
Universitywide copyright policy, library management data, and
Universitywide library planning, including strategic planning for the
California Digital Library. Responsibilities include definition of
problems, identification and collection of information, identification of
key issues, analysis of alternative solutions, presentation of
recommendations, preparation of reports for internal, campus,
universitywide and external audiences, and responding to requests for
information from University officials and other parties. Independently
plan, coordinate and perform all activities necessary for timely and
accurate reporting, maintenance and use of library budget, expenditure,
activity and other statistical data in support of the annual Regents' and
Governor's Budgets, annual University of California library statistics
reports, and ad hoc analyses. Provide support for the work of several
Universitywide and Office of the President policy advisory committees.
Qualifications: Demonstrated proficiency in researching, analyzing and
interpreting complex issues and writing reports that are distributed to a
range of audiences and in quantitative analysis and development and
maintenance of complex statistical reporting processes, databases and
products. Substantial knowledge of academic library policy and
administrative issues and trends. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the
ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff, faculty and
management, and to communicate complex concepts and processes and interpret
policies effectively with varied audiences. Ability to meet both short and
long term deadlines and shifting priorities with a minimum of supervision,
and with initiative and imagination. Demonstrated proficiency in using
Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access). Experience with
academic libraries, preferably within UC, with providing analytic and
professional staff support to committees and working groups, and in
creating and maintaining Web sites are preferred, as is knowledge of
copyright and related intellectual property issues in the academic
environment. An advanced degree in library science, business, public
policy, law or related discipline is preferred.
