POSITION VACANCY NOTICE

REFERENCE LIBRARIAN

General Description:  Albertsons Library at Boise State University
has a new faculty position in Reference Services.   Under the general
direction of the Coordinator of Reference Services each reference
librarian provides reference services in both print and electronic
formats.  Responsibilities include: library service to distance
education students and faculty; regular late evening and rotating
weekend reference desk duty; collection development for one or more
academic departments; and participation in the orientation and
bibliographic instruction program, which requires some travel to
distant sites.

Minimum Qualifications: A master's degree from an ALA accredited
graduate program in Library Service; good communication skills with
people from a variety of cultural backgrounds; the ability to work
collaboratively with professional, paraprofessional and classified
staff; and demonstrated ability with electronic technologies.  The
successful applicant must obtain a valid Idaho drivers license
within 30 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Academic or work experience in science or
business; additional graduate degree; ability to read and speak
Spanish; familiarity with the special needs of distant users who
rely upon a variety of communication technologies; experience in
providing electronic reference and bibliographic instruction; and
the creation and maintenance of Web pages.

Salary and Appointment: Minimum salary of $33,500.   Comprehensive
benefit package includes TIAA/CREF retirement program, 24 days of
annual leave, 12 days of sick leave, and a selection of medical
insurance programs.  Position will be available on November 1, 2001.
