[WEB4LIB] RE: Blocking email, the complaint

The very brief version is that ORBS was hosted in NZ. Two companies
based there sued in NZ courts and won against the host. He didn't want
to delete them or put up with the hassle any more. So, it has been
taken over by three different servers in three different countries.

Basically, does a spammer have a right to run his spam through my
server, using my resources, burning up my expensive bandwidth? My
opinion is no, and that is the opinion of a great many ISPs,
companies, institutions, etc. Naturally, others disagree.

To me, it is not a first amendment issue or an "information wants to
be free" issue, but an economic issue. I don't have to give free
rides on my airplane or on my fiberpipe unless I choose to do so.

cheers

dan
