WEB MANAGER AND INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN LIBRARIAN

Full-time, tenure track, faculty position.  Reports to Associate Dean of
Library Services.  Rank commensurate with credentials and experience.
Minimum annual salary = $36,344.  Comprehensive benefits including
TIAA/CREF.

Duties:  Works with library faculty and staff to articulate a vision for
the library Web sites.  Translates that vision into realistic goals,
policies, and procedures.  Provides ongoing management for the library’s
Web sites.  Works with Web Committee and Information Technologies
Department on such matters as site design, structure and architecture.
Provides instructional design support for librarians.  Stays informed of
trends in web technologies, instructional technology and design.
Evaluates and assesses digital instructional projects.  Works with
Library Instruction Coordinator to integrate instructional technology
into library instruction program.  Participates in library and
university committees and professional associations.  A record of
research, scholarship, and/or creative work is required for tenure.

Required:  ALA-accredited MLS or international equivalent; knowledge of
overall library operations; knowledge of Web environment and technical
elements; significant experience in the management or operation of a Web
site; strong interest in instructional technology and working knowledge
of concepts of instructional design; demonstrated knowledge of current
research and innovations in teaching and learning via electronic media;
evidence of creative application of innovative technologies;
demonstrated skill in the use of web authoring tools, scripting, and
mark-up languages; strong inter-personal skills; strong organizational
skills.

Preferred:  Experience in design, development, and implementation of
instructional projects; degree or significant coursework in
instructional design/instructional technology; experience in training
others to use instructional software and hardware; second graduate
degree (required for tenure).

The University of Northern Iowa, with an enrollment of 13,700 students,
