Re perl: I've used Zeta perl a little with no problems; but it was installed
by someone else and I haven't looked under the hood. See
http://zeta.tlcpi.finsiel.it/z3950/zetaperl/ . CNIDR had a simple Visual
Basic client, but I don't know what its status is - see
http://europagate.dtv.dk/wp11/wp11_3.htm . See also Elise:

All the best,
Peter

This is a step in the right direction, and ought to make things more
efficient for those using PHP.
At one time there was a guy writing a perl Z39.50 module that would be 100%
perl (unlike the Finsiel module, which has C++ libraries). Project seems to
have died off; haven't heard anything about it in awhile.
To the best of my knowledge, those working in a Visual Basic/IIS environment
don't have anything comparable available.
