Hello, All. I just wanted to let you know that with the latest release of
the PublicBrowser and Scott Vermeersch's invaluable personal help I have
been able to give the librarian's all of the functions they've been
requesting and it was a very simple process! Success at last, except that I
still have the problem of people being able to go out to the Internet (if
they know which link to access), but since they are on NT systems I figure
it has to be a policy or permissions issue, so it's back to the drawing
board on that one!
I highly recommend that if you've used previous versions of the browser that
you download and install version 1.01.0009!!
And, for those of you that contacted me personally about my "exceptions"
list, which I had done via "full-blown" IE and the proxy server I thought
you would like to know that the new version of PublicBrowser now has the
capability to restrict or allow access via the modified browser! Check it
out.
I have thanked Scott for his help, but I want to take this opportunity to
publicly thank him again! Great job!

Thanks for the info on the latest release as I'm having trouble with a
supposedly restricted site accessible from Ulrich's International
Periodicals Directory, in an NT environment ('95 works just fine...go
figure). Maybe this will take care of the problem!

One of the best list I have come across, and it works well with Public Web
Browser.
Incidentally, there is a new version of PWB 1.19. The new version includes
an "OnlyAccess" list, the browser will only allow strings in the address box
that are in the list. For instance, putting ".edu" in the list will only
allow sites that have ".edu" in the address box. A few other new features
include hide any or all buttons, configurable tool tips, inactivity timer,
and an activity timer.

Dan Lester? And his blacklist of sites that provide email, chat, and
game-playing? <http://www.riverofdata.com/tools/blacklist.htm>
It is a great source -- much appreciation to Dan for editing it and
everyone who contributes to it.
