Desktop icons

Icons can change for many reasons, mostly due to the gremlins,

But other reasons can be simply explained, such as changing your desktop resolution.. or installing a new program that changes the association of those files. (An example is how Explorer and Netscape tend to battle it out for .html files, until you decided through setting the prompts for them to not change your defaults)

the best fix I find is to install TweekUI (or power toys) from Microsoft, this program comes with a re-build icons function that does this:

The "Rebuild Icons" button rebuilds all Explorer icons and removes unused Explorer icons from memory.
Use this button when you find that Explorer is displaying the wrong icon for a program or shortcut.
