library splash pages

Thanks for the quick input.  I felt the same way at first but now I am toying with the idea of using this "splash page" as the home page for certain things and creating a new page for research.  (I was already in the process of redesigning our library's home page a bit - and our theme as well).  I was thinking along the lines of how some libraries have two home pages:  one for publicity and the other for research.  ????  Love to hear your thoughts.
