SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT HEAD: Perry Library invites applications and nominations
for the position of Head of Systems Development. Reporting to the University
Librarian, this position provides leadership for initiatives with emerging
technologies; supervises a staff of four, including one librarian and three
support staff; manages the operation of the library management system (III) and
the system administration of the Library

?s additional servers; supervises the
program of support for public use microcomputers and office automation;
identifies equipment to be ordered in cooperation with the Library Business
Office; supervises the development of the Library?s Web presence; acts as
project manager for selected technology projects and as technology expert in a
team?based environment; serves as the Library?s technical liaison with the
university campus; and participates in the collection development program.
QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: ALA accredited MLS or computer-related degree; at
least 3 years library experience; working knowledge of ILS; working knowledge of
current practices and developing trends in library automation/emerging
technologies; demonstrated ability to design/implement new technology
initiatives in an evolving digital environment; working knowledge of application
software, networking, and desktop computing; demonstrated experience with
Windows NT and/or Unix, web development tools and knowledge of Web standards;
familiarity with multimedia applications for digitizing text, audio and video;
managerial skills including supervisory, analytic and problem-solving abilities;
excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; combination of
initiative and ability to succeed in a cross-functional team environment;
successful project management experience; commitment to service ; evidence of
creative application of information technologies to meet user needs.
PREFERRED: Experience with programming languages such as Perl.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: $45,000 minimum. Good benefits package.
