                          Position Description


Position Title:  Coordinator, Computer Applications
Rank:    A&P
Reports to:   Deputy Director, Health Science Center
Libraries


Responsibilities:  Oversees, develops, enhances and
maintains the University of Florida, Health Science Center
Libraries’ web site so as to take advantage of new
tools/techniques to maximize content and utility.  In
cooperation with other library staff helps determine web site
organization, layout, content and interactive search tools.
Collects, creates, edits, and customizes graphics, audio, and
video elements.  Trains staff on web-related activities such
as new search tools, construction and maintenance of web
pages.  Develops and maintains web-related training
materials and documentation. Edits all HTML submissions
for visual congruity and accuracy of code.  Stays current on
web technology changes/developments and continuously
reviews other web sites for ideas and information.  Collects,
analyzes and provides various reports on web page and web
links usage statistics and user feedback.  Supervises student
assistant. Participates in collection development as assigned.

Required qualifications: Masters degree in Library or
Information Science from an ALA accredited library school
or equivalent degree in a related field.  Minimum of (2)
years professional (web related) experience. Knowledge of
HTML, web editors, browsers, and the Internet. Knowledge
of PHP, Perl, SGML, CGI, JavaScript and web design.
Demonstrated ability to work well with colleagues, faculty,
students and staff.  Effective written and oral communication
skills.

Desired qualifications: Previous experience maintaining
web pages. Previous experience in graphic design an
advantage. Familiarity with organizational theory and user
searching behavior.  Programming skills.  Previous library
public service experience.
