Summary of stock photo sites

Thank you everyone for all your help with my request for sites that have
photos for web sites.  Here is the summary:

http://www.artville.com/ (some royalty free images are offered, but the site
prefers to sell 
"theme" CDs that will be useful if a lot of images are needed)

Clearing House of Image Databases 
http://dizzy.library.arizona.edu/images/clearinghouse/clearinghouse.html 
This is library, museum & cultural heritage digital images; many are not in
copyright, but 
again they might not have what you want. There are brief descriptions of the
content e.g. 
1,000 images of New Zealand, and also who to contact for permission for
intended use.
