Position Title: Coordinator of Web Services
Harvard University Library
Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager of Publications and Communications in the Harvard
University Library (HUL), the Coordinator of Web Services provides overall
technical support to the HUL programs by creating and maintaining Web pages,
integrating Web and database services, and creating tools for internal use and
site maintenance.
The overall responsibilities of the position are to: · Support the HUL Manager
of Publications and Communications in assessing Web site needs and implement
technical solutions; · Assist in project planning and creation of timetables as
well as determining necessary resources and tools; · Design and create Web
pages ranging in complexity from straightforward HTML to database-backed,
dynamic web sites using Java Script/ Perl/C; · Implement standards and develop
site maintenance tools; · Act as HUL liaison with appropriate technical
workgroups within Harvard · Assist in the creation of digital assets as
appropriate Working Relationships Under the direction of the Manager of
Publications and Communications, the incumbent will be expected to develop
sound relationships within the HUL programs and with HUL-Web-Group in
particular. They will also be expected to communicate regularly with
appropriate staff within the HUL Office for Information Systems and with
University-wide technical work groups.
Required Education, Experience, Skills
BA/BS or equivalent in relevant field and evidence of continued technical
training; Expert knowledge of HTML and experience building database-backed,
dynamic web sites, JavaScript, CGI scripting in Perl/C; Strong communication,
organizational, and creative problem solving skills; Ability to juggle multiple
priorities and to meet deadlines cost effectively; Strong analytical skills, a
service orientation, and willingness to share expertise; Experience with
PhotoShop and digital imaging applications; Familiarity with PHP, Emacs, SQL
(MySQL), form wizardry.
Note: Candidates selected for an interview will be expected to provide examples
of site development experience, and the names of three references.
Salary: $36,300-$59,300
