Keetra,
I've had no problem going right into the prefs.js and editing several
settings, including proxies and home page. In fact, I link different prefs.js
to different groups of users and write them down to the workstation when users
login. Settings reflect whether a user has a signed AUP or not, or is a student
or teacher. Teachers get proxy settings for FTP. Students don't. Not that
clever students can't edit the settings themselves. But on logout, the prefs.js
gets wiped. try editing the file directly for proxies.
