I remember the McBee cards being used in the central circulation department
at the University of Illinois Library in 1974.
And I remember using a high speed microfilm reader in 1975 to search a
microfilmed version of the card catalog of the University of Illinois, even
though I was over a hundred miles away from the UI. I remember marveling at
that!! :-)

What about McBee cards? I also remember seeing a "database" based on cards
similar to McBee cards that one searched by using a needle to pull out
related items. It was in the Engineering Library at Cornell in 1983 when I
worked there as a circulation clerk. How about the typewriter?
