Memorial Library, a member of the General Library System on the 
University of Wisconsin-Madison campus is seeking applications for a
full-time Administrative Program Specialist.  Full-time salary $50,000. 
Benefits include 22 vacation days, sick leave, group health and life
insurance, and a state retirement plan.

This position is a temporary three-year appointment funded by a grant from the
U.S. Department of Education.  Reporting to the Associate Director for
Collection Development and Management in the General Library System and
working closely with an advisory committee, the project manager is responsible
for
leading the multi-institutional development of the Digital Asian Library
(DAL), a Web-based catalog of English and Asian language Web sites for
academic
teaching and research purchases.  (For further details regarding content and

project manager will coordinate a team of Asian studies library specialists at
the
UW-Madison, University of Minnesota and The Ohio State University and will
supervise one FTE cataloger at the UW-Madison.  He/she is responsible for
preparing and distributing a project newsletter to known and potential
users of the DAL and regular written statistical and narrative reports on the
Status of the project.

Degree and Area of Specialization:  Bachelor's degree required.  Master's
degree in a relevant field is preferred.

Qualifications:  Required--One-year experience in project management.  Proven
ability to deliver complex projects successfully and the ability to work
independently as well as with other members of the project.  Strong knowledge
of and experience with database applications and the development and delivery
of high-quality information services in an academic or research setting. 
Knowledge of Web-authoring software and metadata formats.  Experience in
procedure development and writing documentation.  Good organizational skills
that enable the candidate to handle multiple and competing priorities.
Ability to work well with diverse and highly experienced staff.
