[WEB4LIB] Mailing List Content

Just a few thoughts on the subject. I joined this listserv to
learn/discuss issues of web site development for libraries. Many times I
have to just sit & toss messages that are strictly
technical-networking-issues but that will happen in any listserv. I find
it is worth the trouble for me because there is so much valuable
information that I would never receive otherwise, and the ability to
communicate so easily with colleagues is a gold mine. The point about
belonging to so many listservs already is a good one. There will always
be extraneous information for each individual - but it is nice to have
that cushion. I know I have posted or thought of posting questions that
did not necessarily pertain to web sites in libraries but because I have
valued the information and suggestions that I have received in the past
from the members of this listserv, this is where I would like to get
other information at times, as well.

As far as the Censorship issue goes, any listserv can get off topic at
times but I feel that incidents such as Toys 'R Us pulling their funding
for developing Children's Reading Rooms across the nation after something
that someone like Dr. Laura has said --this is a CRISIS that ALL involved
in libraries need to be aware of. True, we do not have do repeat back &
forth arguements and opinions on this listserv but I feel we need to do
something!
