zip unrecognized

I have a problem that I did not expect to encounter. When my UNISYS
Pentium computer running Windows 95 failed I did not worry about it
because the critical data was backed up on a ZIP drive. I replaced the
comptuer with a COMPAQ Deskpro with a Pentium II running Windows NT. I
plugged in the ZIP drive into the parallel port (which works for print
jobs because I tested that), and installed the IOMEGA software.
However, no matter what I try, when I click on the one-step restore, the
software says that I do not have a drive attached and that I need to
reinstall.
Since we purchased the drive more than 30 days ago, IOMEGA tech support
will not talk to me unless I give them my credit-card number. I refused
to do that, so now I am turning to you.
Does anyone have any idea as to what is going on and what I need to do
to retrieve my data?
