Web Manager Job Description
This is a Library position and is supervised by the Information
Resources Librarian. Manages and maintains the central California
Institute of the Arts web site (http://www.calarts.edu), which includes
the Bulletin, Course Catalog, Class Schedule, Performance and Exhibition
Calendar, press releases, etc. Participates on the web site design team
with the Office of Public Affairs. Optimizes web site architecture for
navigability, ensures the site meets standards for HTML validity, and
makes sure all links are active. Incorporates multimedia elements, such
as images, sound, and video, into the site as appropriate. Works closely
with Public Affairs staff and the Bulletin coordinator, editor and
designers.
Requirements: A bachelors degree and experience managing web sites.
Experience using HTML and HTML authoring tools. Experience creating
graphics and using graphic software such as Adobe Photoshop. Experience
with CGI, Java, and Perl programming for web applications. Experience
with Unix, Microsoft Windows 95 and NT, and Macintosh operating
systems. Experience with multimedia tools such as Macromedia,
ShockWave, RealAudio and RealVideo. Excellent oral, written, and
interpersonal communication skills.
