Thanks for your comments regarding the Canandaigua Virtual Library at
http://www.canandaigua.k12.ny.us/academy/library/.

There is much to if libraries are to deliver the full promise of the
Internet to their communities. One purpose of our virtual library is to
facilitate access to exiting local and regional library collections and
periodical databases as well as Web-based resources. We hope to create a
context in which our students work, moving seamlessly from one type of
resource to another. Books and periodicals are an important source of
information. Tertiary sources, like encyclopedias, remain essential to
students as they begin their research. Students are better able to plot
their search stretegies if they start with a summary of tbeir topic. For
many topics at our level of education, search engines should not be the
first step in a student's research. The structure of our site hopefully
reflects this.
