The GIMP - Complete/manual installations

Downloading the "complete installation" of the Win32
port of GIMP and running it at work yesterday, it didn't
seem to launch at all. The complete install seems to
make a number of registry updates whereas the "manual
install," which involves multiple .zip downloads (which
I did at home) doesn't seem to do this, although I did
have to add an environmental variable and add GIMP\BIN
to the path and make a batch file and run it from DOS
in Win95. That one works very well. The complete
install also creates an icon and places GIMP on the
main Explorer menu and desktop and offers an uninstall
feature. If anyone has had problems with the complete
install, you might try the manual install instead:

It's added work, but it could be worth your while.
See "Binaries archives." Directions are there too.
