back-of-book style indexing for websites

Hi,

I am an indexer (book, database, website) and have been lurking here to see
what you all think about web indexing.

I am particularly interested in the creation of browsable, book-style
indexes. Have any of you created these, or found them useful on sites you
have been searching? Do you think they are needed on more sites?

I found one today on the usableweb.com site which I thought was encouraging.
