ANNOUNCEMENT: OCLC Institute Events at the 1999 ALA Annual Confe rence

Dear Readers,

"Let the good times roll" at the 1999 American Library Association Annual
Conference in New Orleans, LA, and join the OCLC Institute at one or more of
the following special events:

*  Using  Metadata for Knowledge Management, ALA Preconference, Friday, June
25, 1999, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Ready to move beyond "data about data"?  

This one-day preconference provides an introduction to metadata and its
applications for knowledge management, with an emphasis on Dublin Core
metadata.   Course materials are based on the OCLC Institute's 2.5-day
seminar by the same title and include critical learning gained through
repeated, intensive, project-oriented application of Dublin Core metadata to
real-world knowledge resources.

**BONUS!**  Enroll for this OCLC Institute preconference and we will credit
your entire registration fee toward your registration for any upcoming OCLC
Institute metadata seminar within the next year!

The OCLC Institute cordially invites all Library Directors to this special
forum.  Martin Dillon and Erik Jul will share what the OCLC Institute has
learned from this past year's seminars.  They also invite your input through
facilitated discussion and open mikes.  Light refreshments will be provided.
