need help with shortcut problem

If anyone has suggestions to help me with the following problem I will be
grateful.  

We downloaded netscape 4.5 off the internet and were having problems with
it so deleted the program and continued using netscape 3.  which we like
because of the way we can organize our bookmarks.  What happened when we
downloaded 4.5 is that all our internet shortcuts on the desktop started to
run off of 4.5, rather than netscape3 as previous to the download. So when
we deleted 4.5,  I assumed wrongly that the shortcuts would go back to
running  off netscape 3 but they won't.  I tried setting them up again
through netscape3 by dialing into the website, right clicking internet
shortcut .  The shortcut sets itself up on the  desktop but will not work.
I have also tried going to the icon, clicking on properties, and typing in
c:\netscape3\program\netscape.exe, but that doesn't work either. Netscape3
and all our bookmarks are fine.  Just the shortcuts are the problem.  Whew!
 Any suggestions?
