Preventing Multiple Browser Windows

We've run into problems with web sites that spawn multiple windows. This
is annoying for advertisements, but it is especially obnoxious in porn
sites. I found a product called PopAway that lets you specify the maximum
number of windows your browser can load. Unfortunately, I am having some
problems with it and am unable to get in touch with the authors for help.
(The authors are two 17 year old high school students.) 

Does anyone either have experience with PopAway, or know of another
product that will take care of this problem?
