Being Fluent with Information Technology

The National Research Council's Computer Science and 
Telecommunications Board will be releasing an interesting
report titled "Being Fluent with Information Technology." Basically,
the report talks about going beyond information literacy to
"information fluency".

The publication annoucement notes that "Fluency requires a deeper 
understanding of how computers work and mastery of technology for 
information processing, communication, and problem solving. People 
who are more adept with information technology will be more 
comfortable  using it and better able to enjoy the benefits of the 
information age."

While the report will be published by the National Academy of
Sciences Press in May, a prepublication copy is available on 
the Web. The document is divided into a number of pdf files. The
