web server recommendations

We are planning to implement a web server primarily for electronic
course reserve and other library web pages.  At this point, I'm trying
to determine the best platform (NT or Linux), whether a PC or server is
needed, and the best web server software (looking at IIS, Website,
Apache).  Most of the info in the Web4Lib archives goes back to 95/96. 
I would appreciate hearing your recommendations.
