 by Selena Sol

There are five tasks that must be accomplished at any successful web site.
These include the following: Content Creation; Architectural Design;
Implementation; Visual Design; Management. Selena describes these tasks
and answers the question "What is a Webmaster ?"

The tutorial is written by Selena Sol who runs the well-known "Public
Domain Web Programming Archive" and who has written several books on Web
programming (Perl, CGI, Java). Selena Sol also contributes The Web
Developer's Virtual Library's (WDVL) WebWare Monthly column. where in
previous months "Introduction to Web Design" and "Introduction to Web
Programming" were extremely popular.

This article is hosted by The Web Developer's Virtual Library, a
comprehensive illustrated encyclopedia of web technology for webmasters,
designers and developers. The WDVL is a well-organised goldmine of
tutorials, demos,and links to great resources. Founded at the same time
as the W3C, it has over 1200 vendor neutral and highly informative pages -
no fluff, no hype."
