This position requires extensive knowledge of the rapidly changing information technology field in order to predict trends and directions in the information delivery field and to meet the information needs of the Library and its patrons. 

Duties: Coordinate, identify, evaluate and implement new electronic products and services for the library, including Internet software, databases services, and regional access/network products.  Negotiates and oversees licensing agreements with a wide variety of commercial vendors of electronic information products, including networked databases, CD-ROMs, and information delivery products.  Prepares cost projections and comparisons, submits budget figures for implementation of electronic products and services.  

Maintain and develop related WebPages that update the RIT community on evolving developments with our electronic products. Assist in preparation of planning papers, grant projects and directions in library services impacted by electronic technology. Participate as developer/ trainer in offering training programs designed for RIT and non-RIT groups on the uses of Internet resources, database software, and electronic services using a variety of computing platforms.  Assist at Reference service desk. Contribute to library by actively participating in
planning meetings, task forces, and committee activities and with community-wide communications.

Requirement:  M.L.S.  or Masters Degree in Information Technology related field.   
Preferred:  Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Related Technology field.  

Skills And Experience: 3-4 years extensive experience (advanced knowledge) with Internet resources and library related electronic products.  Knowledge of variety of computer platforms.  Excellent organization skills are a must. HTML fluency required.  Extensive experience in contract negotiation/ working with Vendors and Consortia (specifications, licensing & contract reviews, product testing). Experience with hardware and software issues relating to product selection.  Experience with implementing broad based services.  Ability and comfort level with managing multiple priorities and working with multiple people to plan and implement ideas & products
