Here's a summary of information I recieved on Community Information
Networks and tools for development.

The responses fell into two categories.

The first category is those Community Information Networks which are a
collection of web pages oriented towards information on your local
community(although some are very broad in scale).

Examples include:

http://www.indico.net - A state-level project that scales down nicely to
the local level

http://environ.spl.org - Seattle area environmental info.

http://www.nsn.org - Regional area network
Related administration tools:

http://www.nsn.org/Admin/tut01.html

http://www.seflin.org/ - community information not tied to a specific
community)

http://www.plymouth.lib.mi.us/commu.htm
and
http://milford.lib.mi.us/mcin/COMM.HTM - 2 local level Networks

http://www.vicnet.net.au - A very nice looking Australian version

The second category is those sites that provide searchable databases of
community information. Some of these sites are associated with the first
category.

Community Calendar -
