I thought I was coming here to lurk, yet one of the first messages I find
is in my field - translation. I am a Swedish to English translator, with a
great interest in searching on the web, which led me to this list.
Since you mention paying 10 cents a word, I assume you are looking for
translation by a human translator, not a machine (there is, of course,
babelfish via alta vista:-). I believe 10 cents is fairly standard (Swedish
is more 'unusual', hence a little more expensive). If you are looking for a
translator, you can check directories such as
Aquarius
http://www.xs4all.nl/~jumanl/Aquarius.html
atril:
http://www.atril.com/directory.html
linguists
http://www.linguists.com
or, if you prefer a more 'personal' approach, you can send a message to
lantra-l, the mailing list for translators via the archives page:
http://segate.sunet.se/archives/LANTRA-L.html
If it is not possible to use the 'send message' function, I would be happy
to forward a message to lantra for you. You would receive responses from
translators subscribed to lantra (over 1100 of them, though not all in the
language combination you seek), and you would have the opportunity for a
more personal approach to selection.
I hope this has been of help.
